As the world’s financial system circles the drain, the Democrat dominated House of Representatives mandates Buy American. To Hell with Free Trade! They owe their jobs to the unions and they intend to keep those jobs no matter what the cost. They loudly decry Mexican sweatshops and Asian child labor, but will let them all starve to keep the union bosses happy.
Whatever happened to those good-old knee-jerk, bleeding-heart liberal democrats of yesteryear that reputedly loved people in the abstract and hated their next-door neighbor? Their heads might have been screwed on wrong but their hearts were in the right place. They worried about Mexican peasants and Chinese workers and cheered on international communism because they actually believed Utopia was just around the corner. They were willing to sacrifice. They marched off to Spain to fight fascism, sold their souls and their country’s secrets to Stalin for a chance at world peace. Not so today’s progressives; for them it’s all about appearances and political power. They can walk away from the world’s unfortunates with nary a backward look.
